Doug Parkinson

"What an entertaining powerhouse Doug Parkinson is. His singing stirs you out of self, to open up to the vibrant, stimulating genius of one of Australia's most generous and lasting performers. His regard for those other supporting musicians and singers is a measure of the man. His conduct on stage would be an example, many of our so called A list artists could follow. Reference to his wife and family and the lack of offensive language and behavior is like a breath of fresh air, in our overly Political Correct performing arts. His love of history and the background of other musicians and composers is delivered in a very genuine and entertaining way. A brilliant nights entertainment in Melbourne. Favourite moment: Singing and sharing the history of Dear Prudence Setlist: Dear Prudence, Unchain My Heart, With a Little Help from My Friends, You Are So Beautiful." - Ticketmaster Review

Doug Parkinson was unforgetable.
Doug Parkinson is an absolute legend, what an amazing tribute to Joe Cocker. I could have listened to him all night. I had goosebumps listening to a few of the songs he performed. Great venue, great seats and an unforgettable performance. Well done Doug.

Favourite moment: All of it was so great.
Setlist: I loved how he did a few different artists but loved his own music as well. Dear Pruedence has always been a favourite of mine and I listen to it often.

Doug Parkinson is a Sensational Performer.
Doug Parkinson is one of those entertainers, once seen, never forgotten. His voice is still as I recall, brilliant! As good as, if not better than the last time I heard him. He has such a relaxed, lay back and captivating way, you feel like an old friend. The band, the overall presentation, the acoustics, the venue... you could not ask for a better night. His interpretation of other great artists work, and personal recollection of these entertainers made the evening more enjoyable. Doug, thank you. An absolutely memorable evening.
Favourite moment: When he sang Dear Prudence and the background to how he came to record it. Doug Parkinson was amazing!

Absolutely loved every second of this show. Doug Parkinson has still got the most amazing voice. First half was made up of covers and his own hits including the incredible "Dear Prudence". The second half is his tribute to Joe Cocker. The play list consists of every fantastic song Joe ever did. A lot of people commented that Doug did them better than Joe. His backing band and singers are also just fantastic. Just a really great show. Was really great to meet him after the show too. Such a nice, humble man. We're going again!!!!!

Favourite moment: Come Together, Little Help From My Friends.
Setlist: Dear Prudence, Come Together, Unchained Melody, Little Help From My Friends, The Letter, Unchain My Heart, Up Where We Belong, Cry Me A River, Leave You Hat On, I'll Be Around and HEAPS more!!

Doug Parkinson: He IS the voice
Doug has one of the most powerful and awesome voices in the world. His band was incredible and reproduced and enhanced so many Cocker songs as well as a variety of well selected renditions. We loved every minute. Keyboards, sax and the backing vocals were highs for us. Should not leave out the great rhythm section bass and guitar work. I wish this concert was available to download/purchase I would be onto it straight away. Thankyou for a great night Doug et al. (even though he was suffering from a cold his voice sent chills through me). If this show is offered elsewhere GO!!

Favourite moment: The Cocker set and Dear Prudence

Doug Parkinson still has a magnificent voice!
On stage, Doug P has really got it all - he has the stage presence and the voice to be well respected for his craft. He sings with such ease and moves from ballads to more up tempo songs seamlessly. His Joe Cocker tribute was so well done, even those not JC fans loved it! I first saw him in 1968 at That's Life in Windsor, and I'm still a big fan and enjoyed the evening at Crown on 18th March 2017 immensely . Thanks Doug, both for the memories and for the magnificent show you put on, I had a blast!

Favourite moment: Singing the Ray Charles song.

In his tribute to Joe Cocker, Parkinson was in form, not a note wrong. With some memorable words leading into each number, DP magically entranced the large audience (packed house) who were in awe of this great performance of old DP and unforgettable Joe Cocker classics. DP concerts are worth every cent, his magic voice with great range and volume capitavted us all.

Best show I've seen at Crown
"Quite possible the best show I've seen at Crown. Doug Parkinson's voice is simply incredible and a perfect match for the Cocker songs. The back up singers and musicians were superb and added to the overall experience. Come back to Perth again soon Doug, with or without your friends. We'll be there! "

Favourite moment: GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS - better than the Beatles!!

Doug Parkinson Was Outstanding!!
"Doug Parkinson's voice is exceptional as was the entire performance!! His repartee demonstrated his intelligence and commitment to the music that is clearly integral to his very being. His band is equally impressive. Of many live concerts I enjoy, including international acts, Doug Parkinson is the outstanding best in recent memory."

Favourite moment: Every song... most gave me goosebumps he is so fantastic!
Opening act(s):Doug Parkinson doing his choice - which was perfect... second set was Joe Cocker songs... also perfect.

The "Grange" of Australian performers.
"We have just got back to Brisbane from Doug and his amazing band's show at Twin Towns, how can he not be up there with his only rival in vocal talent, Sir Tom Jones! My wife and I have seen Doug around 20 times in the last 40 years, he is the "Grange" of Australian performers with a voice that transcends all genres of music. His band together with Carole and Martine ( his backing singers ) are as good as it gets. Thanks for a great night again, Doug."

Favourite moment: The whole show

Like a fine wine.
Doug is like a fine wine, just gets better with age. His voice is truly amazing and he can still hit the high and low notes. Joe Cocker would of been very proud."

Loved the show
"My fiancé William and I thoroughly loved the show especially his stories and just his beautiful voice. He did tell us that he was recovering from a cold but he still sounded amazing and we were so appreciative that he still performed as these days performers usually cancel for having the flu. That's what good old rockers do..."

Favourite moment: When he shared his story about Joe Cocker.
Setlist: Really all songs.
